Once again Geelong’s Audi Week kept the Austins team busy, both on land and at sea. Billed as Australia’s largest sailing
event, the 4-day show brought Geelong’s waterfront alive over the Australia Day weekend.
Scott crewed aboard Larrekin 2 for the first three days before departing for the UK at midnight on the Monday, leaving the others to bring home the bacon on the last day. A couple of replacement crew were seconded and were able to snatch victory in the final stages (while Scott was cruising somewhere at 32,000 feet above).
The ocean racing was completed on Australia Day with Larriken 2 sadly relegated to third position overall in her division. ”Clearly missing one of the star recruits, it was still a magnificent effort and a great event all round,” remarked Scott. “Thanks to Darren and Stefan once again for an awesome week of racing.”
Meantime, on-shore, the Austins Wine Bar was a star attraction once again. Nestled in amongst the foodies and live entertainment, the Austins Wine team shared the duties over the four day. Catherine (from the office) jumped at the chance to enjoy some social interaction away from the vineyard and get out amongst the people who help bring our brands to life.Larriken 2 in the lead: leading the event into the final day of a 4-day regatta event
