Toast to the Coast, Sunday, November 4, 2007
The heavens opened over the Saturday night and the Sunday of Toast to the Coast (November 3 & 4). By Sunday morning, Austins had recorded 54 millimetres of rain and more was to follow. The second day of the Toast to the Coast celebration was bleak. Relentless, driving winds powered the big wet and chilled everything they embraced.
The one thing the wind could not wipe away were the smiles on every member of the Geelong region's wine industry. The weekend downpour guaranteed the success of the 2008 vintage, as it did across most of the state.
Toast to the Coast was a winner with many enjoying the relaxed and welcoming ambience within the winery. The wines, the food and the conversation provided a cosy mix while the special tastings on pinot noir and shiraz were well-attended.
